The thirtieth image features the counting house of the watermill known as the “Higher Mill of Helmshore”. The village of Helmshore is situated in the Rossendale valley of Lancashire. The photograph was produced in 1961. The image shows us a row of empty, derelict houses on the right hand side of the lane leading up to the counting house which are described on the back of the picture as being “surplus” to requirements.
