COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – Important Announcement. The Mills Archive staff have taken the decision to close the archive to the public from Thursday 19 March. We will remain closed until it is deemed safe to reopen. Whilst the staff will be working from home, we will continue to safeguard our milling heritage. We will answer enquiries via our contact form but ask for your understanding if there is a significant delay in response. However, we will not be able to answer complex enquiries or guarantee to be able to receive telephone calls.

We prefer to receive enquiries via our contact form. This ensures that your enquiry will be dealt with by the right person and after appropriate research. For urgent and personal enquiries only, our telephone is usually staffed between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Friday: +44 (0) 118 950 2052.
We welcome visitors but please make an appointment first. We are open from 10am until 3pm on Mondays to Fridays. Usually a week’s notice is sufficient, and if you can offer an alternative date that helps. The library and its contents are available on arrival. Archival material will need fetching from our store, so please be sure to let us know what you wish to see if at all possible. Please read our guidance on preparing for your visit.
