Mill organisations (national)

Title Description
La Fédération des Moulins de France Organisation which preserves French mills. Includes list of existing French mills, browsable by department.
Mills and Millers of Ireland The Society for the Preservation of Ancient and Traditional Irish Mills aims to encourage and assist in the preservation of Ireland's old and ancient industrial buildings.
Schweizerischer Mühlenfreunde Organisation dedicated to the study and preservation of Swiss mills. Site includes a database of existing mills.
Society for the Preservation of Old Mills Society which preserves mills in the USA.
SPAB Mills Section The UK's oldest body fighting to save old mills from decay, demolition or unsympathetic repair.
The International Molinoligical Society (TIMS) The only organisation devoted to mills on a worldwide scale.
Traditional Cornmillers Guild The Guild promotes artisan flour milling by wind or water power, representing some of the UK's finest mills producing high quality flours the traditional way.
UK Flour Millers UK Flour Millers represents the UK commercial flour milling industry.

Mill organisations (regional)

Title Description
Friends of Norfolk Mills The Friends were established in 1977 and aim to support and encourage interest in Norfolk’s many mills.
Hampshire Mills Group Regional mills group based in Hampshire, England, interested in mills of all types; many members own mills and welcome the opportunity to share their enthusiasm.
Midland Wind and Water Mills Group Sometimes known as the Midland Mills Group, or MMG, covering the UK Midlands area.
Suffolk Mills Group A voluntary association founded in 1977 for those helping to care for Suffolk's Heritage of old windmills and watermills.
Sussex Mills Group Promotes the study and the restoration of mills and associated artefacts within the counties of East and West Sussex in the United Kingdom.
Welsh Mills Society The Society studies, records, interprets and publicises the wind and water mills of Wales, encouraging general interest and advising on their preservation and use.
Wessex Mills Group The Group was formed in 2003 as a centre for the milling heritage of Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Museum of English Rural Life The museum includes many archival collections on all aspects of rural life, including milling.
Museum of the History of Science The Museum of the History of Science holds H M J Underhill's photograph album containing photos of windmills around 1907.
SCAN Catalogue Online catalogue describing historical records in more than fifty Scottish archives. The word mill provides more than 600 entries for mills in Scotland
Science Museum archive The Science Museum holds mill-related material in its archives including the H E S Simmons and Denis Sanders collections.
Sunny Bank Mills Archive The Archive represents a unique look at 180 years of cloth produced at the Sunny Bank Mills, founded in 1829.

University of Kent Special Collections The University of Kent Special Collections at the Templeman Library hold wind and watermill material from William and Donald Muggeridge, John Holman, C P Davies and Don Filmer.
