A glossary of old Sheffield trade words and dialect

A booklet, 50pp., with drawings and diagrams.

This booklet was originally printed by Waddingtons, York, in 1936.

The object of this Glossary is to collect words used in the industrial life of the City. Some of these industrial terms can be traced to Dutch or Flemish originals, and were introduced by refugees who settled in Sheffield in the Middle Ages, bringing with them new ideas and methods of manufacture.
