The windmill on the commons at Water Mill is one of Long Island’s oldest and most visible historic landmarks. A unique example of the utilitarian wood age architecture, it is also a lasting symbol of community history and pride.

The mill, restored by the community in 1987, approaches its third century with year a new role- that of cultural resource for children and adults as they seek to understand the traditions, lifestyles and values that shaped this region.
