This copy of the postcard bears a 1/2d stamp. The postage rate for postcards rose to 1d in 1918, so the image presumably does not date from later than that year. Message reads – “This is only view could get of the mill. Pity the workmen taken in. You go over the 3 bridges shown + in at the gate by east bridge. It is on the river Kennet + all around back, front + sides are glorious views of river + woods. Every room has grand view. Should love to live there. The little house by first bridge is to let. This better take for summer residence. What! Gives you no idea whatever of real beauty of old mill and of the interior”
