This is the original site of Moelfre Mawr farmhouse, and the name Felin Moelfre is relatively recent; the house has been known as ‘Yr Hen Dy’. Sometime after the new farmhouses of Moelfre Mawr and Moelfre Bach were built in the C19th the old farmhouse was partly adapted as a farm mill. A new pond and leet were built to drive a water-wheel. The was probably after 1839 as the leet and mill-pond are not marked on the tithe map
