Calamine, the carbonate ore of zinc, was discovered in Mendip in 1556. By 1703 industrialist Abraham Darby was producing brass from this and the copper produced by local smelters in nearby Bristol.

This book describes the development and decline of brass production in Bristol, with numerous illustrations, reproduction images and photographs (b/w).

This is a hard back edition, with blue cloth boards and gold lettering on the spine. With a pictorial dust jacket in good condition.
