Adopt a Collection and protect the legacy of specialist companies that provided millwrighting and engineering services, as well as the metal components for mills. Without these companies millers would have struggled to work, as the majority of millers did not have the skills to fix their mill if it broke down.
Geoff Holman Collection
Discover our detailed history of the engineering and millwrighting firm the Holman Brothers Ltd (19th century to 1975). One of the most intriguing pieces in the collection is a tin type photograph (pictured) of the Holman staff c1875. The image is very small but after scanning the photograph at high resolution, the fascinating image is revealed in all its detail. Find out more about Geoff, the Holman Brothers and the gems in his Collection here.

Bodley Foundry Collection
Rescued from the demolished drawing office of the Bodley Brothers and Company iron foundry, this collection features many carefully depicted architectural drawings such as this one and another of a turbine section. Some of the drawings show written details of the original design. Such information allows you to see the changes a mill may go through in its lifetime. Our Chairman wrote an article highlighting some of the beautiful drawings and there are some large images of them here.
