Eling Tide Mill in Hampshire recently received international coverage when recruitment for a new miller began.
Considered one of the rarest jobs in Britain as there are so few working tide mills left, Medieval History graduate Matthew Painter was selected for the unusual role of the new miller. Matthew is learning directly from Eling’s current miller David Plunkett, who has volunteered at the mill for many years. This has attracted the attention not only of the British media but also of US journalists.
