Author: Chris Wheeler

The Mills Archive welcomes Chris Wheeler, seen here with established volunteers Talbot Green and Colin Mitchell. He will be following in the footsteps of Ken Kirsopp and Suzy Talbot by working on Peter’s huge collection.

First, let me introduce myself, my name is Chris Wheeler, and I am one of five hundred lucky winners of the Vodafone world of difference UK programme.  This programme aims to help charities by allowing people such as myself to work there on a full time basis for two months. I have been working at the Mills Archive for the previous six months gaining work experience as a volunteer for two days a week. So for me to be able to work here at the Archive on a full time basis and to give something back is fantastic.

The project that I shall be working on will be the Peter Dolman Collection. The more I discover about Peter’s collection, the more I realise the significance of his work and research, and discover how respected Peter was in the milling world. It is my hope to do justice to Peter’s collection and to make as much as possible, if not all, of his work available once more for research.

Over the coming weeks I shall be making blogs and raising points and issues about Peter’s collection that I hope will be of interest. There is a lot of work to be done, and I am keen to get cracking !
