Following yesterday’s Kent Mills Sociey inaugural meeting, I popped down to Stodmarsh windpump today, to find it in the final throes of collapse
The cap/body with windshaft etc has fallen into the river, leaving the trestle hanging onto the riverbank precariously.
Guy Blythman has contacted the owner, who has agreed to a work-in here next Sunday afternoon May 30, which of course the KMS will be heavily involved with even if it is only a small handful of people. What we can do in the work-in is still open to question. We need to draw together a lot of help quickly (e.g. metal detectors, waders, diggers and perhaps lifting gear etc ), and would appreciate all offers of help to kentmillssoc@aol.com.
