Stop 9: Minster Street

To the south of Minster Street and just by the Holybrook was the Minster Mill/s, the most northerly of the mills in the Oracle area and there was a road from Minster Street to the mill.  According to W.S. Darter, these burned down about 1811, but were rebuilt about 1820. Archaeological investigation dates a mill here from c.mid 11th century, the various streams in the area providing water for the necessary water wheels. The mill was in use until 1898 when it was decommissioned and its use changed.
