The mill was built in the late 19th century next to Meaby’s bakery, at 82 Queen’s Road – 102 after re- numbering and here they manufactured Triticumina Flour from malted grain. It was later demolished and replaced with Barkham Mews, but the bakery building behind the shop remained. Huntley and Palmers won a case they brought against Meaby’s in 1893, which prevented them from calling their biscuit business the Reading Biscuit Company. See the ghost sign for A. Lee Bakery.
