Stone mill

The fifty eighth photograph is identified simply as “Stone mill” as a consequence of an amendment. This is not very helpful as there were two operational water mills on the river Avon in the small Gloucestershire village of Stone namely Middle Mill and Woodbridge Mill. Nevertheless, the word “Woodford” was originally written and crossed out with the word “Stone” written directly above. This suggests that the water mill featured in this photograph is Woodbridge Mill as opposed to Middle Mill and that “Woodford” was a confusion of “Woodbridge”. The information is recorded that the mill was “derelict” and that the “two wheels and 3 stones and machinery (are) still in situ.”
