Note on reverse reads “1873-1973. Oct 1949: After taking out the vanes – Mary said this was the beginning of the end! – The Last Rites!! They all went that way!!! Grandfather Alfred Aldred bought the mill Feb 1873. He used it until he died + was succeeded by his son A S Aldred (Steve Aldred) who used it until he died June 1947. I bought it Sept 1949 + eventually signed deed of guardianship with M of Works in 1951 [illegible signature]”
