Herne Bay Past Series no 3 New book Soft covers A4 46pp glossy art paper 26 greyscale images. There is an evidence of milling activity in this part of East Kent dating back over 1000 years and Herne Mill itself still stands proudly above the development that now surrounds it.
The book details the early history along with more details of the rural windmills at Herne, Chislet and Hoath as well as the mill that once stood on the seafront at Herne Bay. The text covers not just the mills, but the people who owned and operated them. Numerous period images are included in the text.
The book is a much larger, revised and extended version of Gough’s “A History of Milling in the Herne Bay Area”.
