Notes | Born Liverpool, lived in Dublin until father left the family flour milling bsiness (John Donovan & Sons) in County Kerry and set up Kings Mills at Knottingley. Served his apprentice there - expanded the business with his brothers; in 1962 they sold out to Associated British Foods and became part of Allied Mills Ltd. Eventually became MD of Allied Mills, then Chairman; then a Director of Associated British Foods Ltd.Expended business into starch production, grain merchandising, rice milling, grain import and export and maize milling. Heavily involved in NABIM - gained CBE. |
