In 1837 recorded as being occupant of mill - in his will, father John left mill to brother John but John relinquished mill and rest of property on site to Henry.(Also both brothers inherited Mile End Mill, Portsmouth; Henry had been running this mill for some time; still running it in 1841. Sold it in 1844.} He employed Thomas Knight as miller 1841-1851 at Tower Mill. Ran business with his sons. By 1861 employed 12 men and 3 boys. Died in 1878 after accident with his invalid carriage. Son Henry took over. |
