In 1713 the mill was conveyed by Thomas Swaddon and included a grist mill and two fulling mills. It continued to be used for fulling and grinding corn. In 1822 it was rebuilt as a five-storey cloth mill with two breastshot waterwheels, owned by the Bailey family. It was damaged by fire in 1861 but a mill still stood here in 1871, driven by water and steam. It had ceased work by 1885, and the remaining buildings were put to other uses.
