On a tributary of the Cherwell, the mill has been in domestic use for many years. It is part of the Rousham Estates. It was used as a farmhouse until 1965 and was undergoing a second conversion in 1970, when the water wheel was already missing. The mill was faced to simulate a rustic cottage by Wm. Kent in 1740 as part of the landscaping of the Rousham Estate.
