A mill, probably a post mill, stood here from the mid 17th centuryl; at some stage this seems to have been replaced by a small tower mill, which is shown in an early painting. In 1866 a new four storey tower mill was built, the last windmill to be built in the Wirral.
The mill lost a sail in a storm in 1897, and the miller dying soon after from cancer, the mill never worked again. It was demolished in 1900.
