The mill was the first roller flour mill built by Joseph Rank, and opened 5 April 1885, with a 3 sack per hour plant. It was later extended to 13 sacks per hour. Joseph Rank closed the mill in the 1890s in order to concentrate his efforts on Clarence Mills.
