The mill was in existence by the 17th century and worked until 1968. The Victorian machinery remains intact, including four pairs of millstones and a brick built engine house which once housed a steam engine to supplement the water supply. Outside, the development of the building can be traced and the skeleton of the water wheel can be seen.
