Arden Mill, Bredbury
This mill was originally a corn mill, but by 1852 it had been converted to a paper mill and was owned by Heywood, Higginbottom, Smith and Co who manufactured wallpaper. Two water turbines were installed. In 1917 the mill was requisitioned by the government for the manufacture of cordite but was destroyed by a large explosion before it began production.
