The mill was constructed in the 1880s, and within eight years of its construction had become the property of Messrs. Hudson, Ward and Co Ltd. In 1907 the mill had 20 roller machines, with a capacity of 10 sacks of flour per hour, and used a system of scalping known as the "Alphega" system.

The mill suffered from a fire on 31st May 1930, originating in the dust collector on the third floor. The fire caused £1000 of damage.
