Barton Mill was held by Cirencester Abbey until its dissolution, when the mill passed to the crown. It was sold by Queen Elizabeth I in 1560. Barton Mills consisted of a mill house and two grist/corn mills. In 1907, 15 corn silos also existed on the site, and roller machinery was added to the mill.
