A windmill symbol is marked on the 1in to the mile Ordnance Survey map of 1834 on a flat low-lying section of the lower Rheidol valley. An engraving in Wales Illustrated (circa 1830) entitled 'Vale of the Rheidol' by H. Gastineau shows a four-sailed windmill in the distance on the valley floor opposite Llanbadarn church. Another scene, 'Plas Crug', by the same artist shows the same mill viewed beyond Plas Crug. There are apparently no traces of the mill surviving today and as yet nothing further is known of its history.
