Probably built in the mid 18th century on the site of an earlier post mill. Said to have worked with only two sails during the late 19th century after storm damage. It ceased work after further damage in the 1890s.
The machinery was still in place in the 1930s. The mill was demolished in 1940 so that the sand it stood on could be excavated.
