The body of the mill was not accessible. The stone chamber is octagonal, of interlocking timbers, 14 ft. 6 in. square, height to eaves 8 ft. The hollow post, 19 in. square at the base, is built up from four pieces; crosstrees 10 in. by 9 in. deep arranged as a clasp arm framed quarterbars 8 in. by 5 in. deep. The roof is double-boarded and birch-bark lined. The upright shaft is of wrought iron 1 7/8 in. square and drives a single pair of stones direct. The tailpole, which is supported by a trestle, is 26 ft. 8 in. long. The sails span something under 40 ft., are 36 in. wide at the tip and (as far as could be judged) at an angle of 17º to the normal.
