The octagonal building containing the horse wheel has been converted into a play-room. The cast-iron crown wheel which is mounted at high level on the upright shaft is 1.52m (5ft) diameter. The horse arm and harness loop indicate that the horse walked in a circle of 4.07m (13ft 6in) diameter. When the conversion was carried out this gearing was preserved outside. The lay shaft and bevel wheel still exist inside the play-room.
