The mill is a Grade II Listed house conversion, retaining its working waterwheel. Westwell Mill is an attractive white brick and weatherboard mill which functioned until at least 1922. It had early wooden counter gear to two pairs of stones; this was removed when the mill was converted into a house in the 1940's. In recent years the iron overshot 10' x 4' 6" wide wheel made by Clark of Ashford in 1881, has been restored and used to drive a generator for electricity.
