An earlier stone mill was destroyed by fire 14th April 1899. From the 1890's the mill was powered by a 20hp Gilkes Turbine, and in the 1950's an Allen 3-cylinder oil engine. This is a working turbine-powered mill that has a museum, shop and cafe alongside, which opened in 2013.
