The mill is believed to have been in existence by the 13th century. From the 15th-17th century it belonged to the Lowe family, and later by the Stewards and Jordins. By the start of the 20th century it was owned by the Derricut family and used solely for animal feed. By the time of WWI it was no longer in use. The dam on the Borle Brook is believed to have breached during severe floods in 1947.
The mill was used as a wood workshop for many years, and later converted to a residence.
