The mill dates back to the 19th century. It was originally called Woodgate Mill and is now known as Mill Green. It was owned by the Thackray family in the early 19th century and worked until the 1880s.
The waterwheel was replaced in the 1880s or after with a turbine which generated electricity for four houses in the hamlet.
