Built in 1797 as a water powered cotton mill. The hamlet of Goose Eye grew up around this and the nearby Brow End Mill. In 1822 it was taken over by John Town who extended it in Georgian style and converted it to a paper mill. Later steam power was introduced. The mill ceased work in 1932, and in 2006 was converted into flats.
