An ancient watermill site, dating back to the time of the Domesday Book. The mill was at one time known as Lord's Mill and later as Clark Mill or Town Mill. Steam power was introduced in c 1860 and by 1900 the mill was powered by gas. A larger roller flour mill was later constructed next to the watermill building, with plant by Briddon and Fowler. The mill was purchased by the Munsey family in 1947 and traded under the name Wessex Mill. In 2022 the mill ceased work due to rising electricity prices and the Wessex Mill brand was acquired by Doves Farm Foods.
