These 3 mills were originally used as corn mills. They were converted to use as coprolite mills in the 1880s, where they crushed fish coprolites for fertiliser. They formed a small industrial complex with a range of outbuildings and an internal railway system. Two of the mills were tower mills and one was a post mill.
