A smock mill on this site was replaced with a brick tower mill in 1884. It ceased working c 1915. The attached cottage was built on and the combination converted to a domestic residence. The building is Grade II Listed and as formerly owned by the author Gilbert Cannan who is famously depicted outside the mill in a painting by Mark Gertler.
