The mill was first owned by J F Milner in 1890; then by Elland Flour Mills Limited in 1905. It was a five story mill, and in 1890 was descirbed as the largest flour mill in Yorkshire. On Friday 4th March 1892 a dispute arose between the management and workers of J F Milner in regards to the corn milling trade. It is reported that a fire took place in the mill on Monday 22nd April 1907, which caused an estimated £2000 to £3000 of damage.
The mill was purchased by Joseph Rank Ltd in 1929.
