Said to be the oldest recorded mill site in the Taunton Deane area, first mentioned in 1036. In 1208 the mill became part of Taunton Deane Manor, owned by the Bishop of Winchester. John Hurman was miller in 1497 and the last known miller was James Buckland in 1889, who was also publican.
