This is a probable site of a watermill. Coates and Tucker state that a 'local resident remembers remains of a waterwheel some 50 years [1920s] ago', and that a brick chamber on the bank of the brook (see OS map) 'probably houses a waterwheel pump'. The 1888 25-inch OS map identifies a 'Force Pump' near the site and is likely the brick chamber described.
