John Harrison (2015) has cited E Mitford Abraham's 1928 observations on this mill, but it cannot be found on old OS maps of the period in the area suggested. There are also two 1923 sketches by George Nicholson of this mill at the York City Art Gallery, but the drawing contains no further information.
This mill has been identified to be near Hovingham and can be found on OS maps. Harrison has listed the mill as Hovingham but the description appears to be an amalgamation of this mill and a nearby saw mill (SE 65616 75152) to the west between Hovingham and Coulton.
