There are early references to a mill in the manor of Winslow from 1326 and 1516. It is not clear in the earliest reference whether the mill is water-driven or not. However, in the Court Roll from 1516, land belonging to Will Perkins is described as “by the watermill”. Stanley Freese mentions that, in view of the close association between the manors of Winslow and that of Granborough, there is the possibility that the mill in question might be Biggin Mill in Granborough. The above map reference is provided to indicate the likely location of an early watermill.
