In the 1980s, the building was already in a ruined state. The metal gear was mostly complete, as was a 17ft by 4 ft overshot wheel with 60 buckets. At the time the mill was worked by auxiliary steam via a secondary bevel spur.
This mill had a breastshot waterwheel.
