Scope & contentEducational pack for teachers about Bursledon Windmill, the only complete windmill left in Hampshire and one of only a few working windmills in Britain. The pack contains loose sheets with information about what is involved in a school visit to the mill, a history of milling by hand, a glossary of milling terms, and explanations of how a windmill works and how power is generated by the wind. Also contains activity sheets including word searches and maths problems such as calculating the height of the windmill. There is information on the history of bread making in Southern England from 1750 and the separate farm buildings at the windmill site. Also included is a separate sheet from 2004 on how to handle school visits to mills.
