One of a series of guides to heritage sites in the Vienna area, detailing the development of water mills, their ownership, and the regulations governing them.
It starts in the Wien valley, where they first appeared around 1100, then goes on to describe the mills around Vienna itself, those in Gumpendorf, those between Meidling and Hacking, and those in Rodaun. Duke Albrecht V’s decree of 1429 regulating millers is added as an appendix.The booklet is illustrated mainly with excerpts from historical maps.
