Scope & contentSummary Translation A timeline of the quarry at Jonsdorf in Saxony, on the border of the Czech Republic, starting in 1560.

There is a long gap between 1580 and 1756, because the archives held in Zittau were burned during the Seven Years War. The 18th century is restricted mainly to the names of the lessees, but the rest of the timeline gives more details on the working of the quarry, technical innovations, and the handling and export of the stones, many of which went to Russia.

There is also information about various accidents and about employees. 1905 was a disastrous year for various reasons, from which the quarry did not recover. It stopped operations in 1918. The last part of the timeline details conservation measures and work to open it to visitors.

The centrefold and front and back covers consist of illustrations of documents connected to the quarry, photos of workers and of the quarry itself, sketches of some of the quarry buildings and a price list after 1873.
