    Scope & contentSummary Translation

An expanded version of the mill information contained in the Museumsdorf Cloppenburg guide of 1985.The first section describes briefly different types of grinding equipment and mills: rubbing stones, querns, hand powered groat mills, horse mills, water mills, post mills, hollow post mills, cap winders, and tjaskers, illustrating the mills with side and front views; it goes on to describe the grain milling processes.

The second section looks in more detail at the mills in the open air museum: the post mill from Essern, hollow post mill from Edewecht, the cap winder from Bokel, the horse mill from the Hof Wulfert, and the large collection of hand mills. The text in this section is partly taken from the 1985 guide, and partly contains different information. (The hand mills do not feature in the original guide.) The diagrams of the mills are the same, but there are some different photographs.
