| Scope & content | Compendium of measured scale drawings from 42 mills in Western Europe which have also been published as separate folios for each mill. There are a small number of widmills and horse mills included. Atogether there are 11 German, 23 Danish, 4 English, 1 Greek and 3 Norwegian mills described in detail. The emphasis is on technical information, particularly the differences in mill gearing, waterwheel types, and methods of siting the mill under different topographical conditions. The basis of analysis is a considerable amount of raw material such as field notes, measured drawings, regional surveys and test reports. |
